House Rules

Every Soul Alphabet gathering follows a list of house rules and this list is ever expanding to ensure that the safety of the most marginalised Bla(c)k and brown folks is being centred.

The body of space creation: community talk

Community Talks is a response to Propel Youth Arts’ 2022 theme, Booraka Korangan-ak, with a focus on how ideas are transformed into work/spaces that go on to serve communities and how these spaces can be sustained. Joining us will be organisers who are behind spaces which are clearly actionable courageous steps to creating change. Through conversations we will be investigating the body of space creation.

Joining this discussion is:

Abuk Lual and Nidal Saeed - Founders of Friends of Friends, a Sudanese women run spoken word and music event collective that homes Bla(c)k and Queer stories on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja.

Ayebatonye - Gadigal Land based DJ, curator and founder of irregular fit, a DIY arts platform made by and for Bla(c)k, Brown and POC folk.

China Aleisse - Founder of Floating Key, a nomadic platform prioritising Black elevation, Indigenous reverence, and sustainable community activation.

Tobiasz ‘Toby’ Millar - a teacher, model and activist who’s part of Boorloo Justice, a grassroots collective fighting to dismantle systematic racism.

The above conversation’s summary has been added to our community manifesto below!
